New Design a Reality: Real-Life Exoskeletons

1 Comment 09 June 2008

experiment-795092.jpgEver wanted a suit of armor like Iron Man? Well, now you can! OK, but to be honest this is much more likely to have amazing medical (or military) applications than recreational ones. Berkeley Bionics has developed a suit that will allow users to carry up to 200 pounds with very little effort.

Perhaps the most disappointing thing is that, from a design standpoint, the suit looks quite cumbersome and is likely awkward to wear as well. Still, think of this as a prototype: if they were to go toward mass-production they would surely try and make the design more inspiring for potential purchasers. Either way would you really pass this up if you had the opportunity to own one?

Sometimes you really want to pop in a reflection into a body of water that simply refused to cooperate while you were taking a photograph or otherwise Photoshopping a scene. It is surprisingly easy to do this in a convincing way. As with many Photoshopping processes you just can’t become too obsessed with any single step or appearance along the way – in the end it will look great!

This next tutorial is a bit more involved and has more artistic than strictly practical applications. Still, if you are interested in creating any kind of space-themed logo, website or other graphic design this kind of thing can really come in handy for creating original backgrounds.
