FYI, I have used TweetDeck and Twirl. I am just not an Adobe AIR fan (the runtime needed for these) and am pretty happy with using HootSuite (2.0) for now as it runs in just about any browser without a lot of overhead or installing anything.

One good twitter plugin I found is tweet suite. It allows you to put tweets on your sidebar, put a retweet this button, and even automatically update your twitter account when you post a blog post. Best of all, it’s free.
