Ten ways to get Creatively Inspired
Creative Inspiration is the first step to success. No one has to be born a genius to get great ideas; all it takes is a little thought and a lot of passion. Try the following to get your mind to start thinking out of the box and come up with ideas that inspire.
1. Meditate
Meditation helps you focus your energies and thoughts on to one thing. It helps you free your mind of worries and stress, and makes you feel relaxed. The silence helps you contemplate things better and gives you clarity of thought.
Meditation is not as easy at it sounds; it takes time to be able to relax your mind and let go of things worrying you. But don’t lose heart, soon enough you will be able to reap the benefits of meditation and direct your thoughts better.
2. Go for a stroll – alone
If you like the ocean and have access to a beach go for a walk on one. Or else choose a nice park, and even that is not available in the vicinity just choose a quiet road you haven’t used much before.
A nice stroll helps you take in your surroundings better, you tend to notice things more closely, and being alone you are not disturbed in your thoughts. A good stroll can often help put things in perspective and gather where your life has come and where you want it to go.
3. Meet new people
Often we get so entangled in our lives that we have little time to meet new people and make friends. But if you make a conscious effort to meet new people you will soon realize that talking and discussing things with them helps infuse new ideas and perspectives in your life. You are able to see things from a different perspective and even understand human nature more.
4. Maintain a Diary of interesting events
On a daily basis, write down in a diary something that you found funny or interesting or something that really touched your heart. Just a month later if you read through all you have written, you will not only enjoy a good read but will also gain an insight into yourself. It will help you decipher what really interests you and get your brain working in that direction.
5. Get Curious
The next time you see something that interests you, don’t just stop at looking. Be curious and try and learn more about it. Research all you can and who knows maybe you can come up with a way to make it better and end up rich and famous yourself.
6. Explore Other People’s work
Very often when you can not think of anything new, looking at the work of others in your field will help in getting the grey brain cells working. It is often easier to pick some one else’s work and then make it better or modify it to one’s liking thus developing something totally new in the end. But remember to acknowledge the people whose work inspired you.
7. Brainstorm with a friend
Brainstorming with a friend or a couple of friends equally passionate about your field of interest will help you gather more perspectives and insights. New ideas will be put on the table and what you thought best may actually prove not to be so good after all. A hearty brainstorming session with a friend helps clear a lot of things and guides you in the right direction.
8. Challenge your mind
Often we get into such a routine that thinking out of the box just does not seem possible. The more we seem to try the harder it seems to get. In such times, its best not to focus on creative thinking, rather you should challenge your mind by engaging in interesting puzzles and quizzes. A good game of sudoku, or an interesting crossword, or any other such mind bender will help you get your brain out of the routine and ready for good ideas to pop in.
9. Look at the city from the height
It may sound a little different from normal, but then that is what we are looking for – ideas which are different from the normal. Looking down at the city from a big height makes you look at the same things you see everyday, with a very different angle. The things you are accustomed to seeing, suddenly seem different and new. That’s how you need to get your thinking to be. You need to look at things differently.
10. Sit at an airport and watch people greet each other
There is a certain intimacy in people seeing each other off or greeting each other at the airport. It is something which when observed closely, is sure to touch the heart and strike a chord. Heart is where the passion lies and what needs to be cultivated to get the ideas rolling.
