An article by Web Designer Sudhir http://www.webmindz24.com
Just having a website is not the only the thing which makes you successful in your business. Only a complete and effective website can give you the boost you have been looking for. Building a complete and effective website requires hard work, time and ordered steps.
In this article I will explain the eight most standard steps to build a complete and effective website.
1. Analysis
Website Analysis is the first and most important part to be done to make a website successful. Analyse thoroughly ‘why the website is needed and how can your website be definitely beneffited Online?’. Spend your substantial time in planning steps you going to take to reap actual benefit from the Internet. Conceptualize the features which you are going to provide to visitors and analyse their actual requirements. Last but the most important step is to analyse your portal on technical grounds like user friendly design, quick response, seo friendly, etc.
2. Set a Deadline
Setting up a timeline for your website project plays an important role. Whether planning to have a website for yourself or designing it for a client it will be good to set up a time to complete the project.
3. Think of a Layout/Design
‘First impression is the last impression’, this popular saying plays an important role in attracting visitors attention. An attractive, user friendly and light weight site is likely to be more popular than the dull and heavy weight sites. Firstly, its good to complete your paper work and draw actual design on paper. Analyze various technical aspects of layout in order to come up with a robust design covering all specific features of your website. Try to create a test mock-up before working on the actual website. Some features that should be covered while thinking of a website layout/design are:
* Purpose of the website – depends on the products or services offered.
* Color Theme for Website – must be related to product/service industry
* List of sections for your website
* Type of Website – whether your website is just static / simple dynamic / a flash site or going for a big shopping site, a B2C or B2B Portal, Social Networking, Directory, Forum or a Blog, it can be anything.. So it is the most important part while thinking for a design.
Design is the thing which make a good or bad website in first impression. So think twice before finalizing your website design.
4. Choose a Platform/Framework
If going to have a static website HTML/CSS coding or any good WYSWYG editor can work for you. But if you are going to have something big – a dynamic site with lot of features for your website visitors you must choose a better Platform/Framework to work upon. A majority of Designers prefer using good open source CMS available like Wordpress for Blogs, Joomla/Drupal for dynamic sites, Oscommerce for E-commerce sites.
There’s two great web resources www.opensourcecms.com and www.cmsmatrix.org available to help you out choosing a best CMS.
5. Testing
As you are done with the Design/Development part of your website, Testing should begin. Test your website on cross browser platform to check whether it is working well with all the browsers mostly used by surfers. Test once again all the development part done in website – control panel, new user registration, active user logins, shopping cart if any, payment gateway if any, dynamic forms on the site, etc. Test to make sure the website done by you is perfect to get live.
6. Launch your Website
Now as your design/development and the testing part is done having your website ready to be live, it’s the time to launch your website. You can go for a press release on the launch of your website. If your company is not big enough to go for a official press release just do it yourself by submitting to Press Releases free of charge on some good free press releases website like :

The objective of Search Engine Optimization is to increase online web traffic by ranking very high in the results of searches in major search engine.

All excellent advice but search engine optimisation should be considered earlier in the process.
the plan is very complete, but i agree with one of the comments before that we have to plan the seo strategy before, is necessary to prepare the seo guidelines with the analysis and the design to make a better work.
